Bridge End

Bridge End

Details:

10.15 am
The day will start at Bridge End Garden at 10.15 am in the car park (located south-west of the gardens and reached via first lane on the left when approaching Saffron Walden via Windmill Hill from Cambridge), where we will meet the head gardener Mark Rolpkins, who will give us a guided tour (about 1.5 hours) of these newly restored gardens. Please see http://www.uttlesford.gov.uk/bridge+end+garden/default.htm for further information including location. Both entry and guided tour is free of charge; however we have been informed that a donation of a few pounds per head would be appreciated by the gardener to go to the future maintenance of the place.

The guided tour is expected to finish at about 12.00, after which we shall make our way to the nearby Audley End, which is located about 5 minutes drive from Bridge End Garden. Please see http://www.maps.live.com/, postal code CB11 4JF.

12.30 pm
We shall meet at 12.30 pm at Audley End House and Gardens outside the shop (grass area with seating adjacent to the house), where we as a group (unless you are a member of English Heritage, and thus can go in for free) will be given tickets for entry to the gardens. The entry fee will be paid by EEBLI. Lunch is then proposed to be taken in the tea room (at own expense), after which participants are free to stroll the gardens as long as desired (gardens close at 6pm). Please see http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/server/show/nav.12088 for further information.
